Negative taken for April 26, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "A River That Works Pays a Profit to Area," E1:1. The Little Rock Chamber of Commerce visited Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, on their annual Goodwill Tour. As part of their tour they viewed the traffic of boats on the Missouri River. In 1944 the United States Congress approved a water and land resources program for the Missouri Basin, which eventually cost more than five billion dollars. As a result of this program, metropolitan Kansas City has become part of a thriving inland waterway system and a center of communication, commerce, and industry.
